Medical Services

We offer a Medical Services Image wide range of medical diagnostics, treatments and other services. These procedures provide the basis for an ongoing goal of optimizing your pet's overall health and vitality.

We can provide, here in the clinic, the majority of the diagnostic or treatment procedures that your pet requires. When very complex or unusual circumstances arise however, we will help you to make arrangements for your pet to be seen by an appropriate veterinary specialist with whom we will work closely.

Laser Surgery

We perform a wide range of surgical procedures ranging from spays and neuters to more complex emergency, orthopedic, and soft tissue surgeries.

Dr Kindred using the CO2 laser in SurgeryPrior to surgery, we will give your pet a thorough physical examination to help us identify any existing medical conditions that will need to be taken into account. We recommend pre-anesthetic blood work to help us evaluate organ function and identify conditions that may not be evident in a physical examination. These evaluation procedures can greatly reduce the risks associated with anesthesia and surgery by giving us a more complete picture of your pet’s health as well as allowing us to choose the anesthetic options most appropriate for your pet.

laser surgeryWe are one of the first veterinary clinics in the Orlando area to offer you the option of laser surgery, a state of the art technique that reduces post-operative pain and speeds recovery. The procedure uses focused laser light, rather than a scapel blase, to incise skin and soft tissue. This provides immediate cauterization of vessels and nerves, dramatically decreasing bleeding during surgery and reducing inflammation and swelling after surgery.

During surgery, we closely monitor your pet's condition using a variety of techniques, including pulse oximetry, which gives us continuous information about your pet's electrocardiogram (EKG), heart rate, and blood oxygen saturation level.

Wellness Plans and Immunizations

We can work with you to develop an individualized wellness plan based upon your pet's age, breed, activity level, medical condition, and other factors. Such a plan may include nutritional counseling, a weight loss program, geriatric health care, and other components.

WVaccinese will encourage you to arrange for your pet to have a complete physical examination at least once a year. Older pets and some others should be seen more often. Early detection and response to health problems can give you and your pet many more happy years together. We can help you to protect your pet from many major diseases. In recent years, many new immunizations and preventive treatments have become available. We will be happy to recommend appropriate vaccinations based on the particular risks your pet faces.

If you have adopted a pet from the Orange County Humane Society or another recognized animal shelter, we will be happy to provide the first physical examination for your newly acquired pet at no charge.

K-Laser Therapy

A K-Laser works at the cellular level through a process called photo-biostimulation. It uses laser light to energize and activate cells in the body which can speed healing rates, promote enzyme production and increase production of ATP. The process is similar to photosynthesis in plants. The plant's leaves harvest sunlight which is used as fuel to grow.

K-Lasers have been used to treat a variety of condition with remarkable results in both human and veterinary medicine. Some examples of the benefits K-Laser therapy can have include:

K-Laser
  • Accelerated tissue repair and wound healing after surgery
  • Anti-inflammatory/pain relieving in chronic arthritis
  • Improved nerve function
  • Increased collagen production
  • Improved circulation and vascular activity

The standard initial course of treatment is 3 sessions the first week, 2 sessions the second week, and 1 the third week. Each laser treatment session is relatively short, completely painless, and generally does not last more than 10 minutes. After the third week each patient's progress and response to treatment is individually evaluated. Subsequent treatments, if needed, are usually once a month to once or twice a year.

X-rays and Ultrasound

Our hospital is fullyCanine X-ray equipped with the equipment and skilled personnel to produce high-quality radiographs (x-rays) on site. These images can be ready for the doctor's evaluation in minutes to aid in diagnosing medical conditions and in determining the proper course of medical and/or surgical treatment.

More advanced imaging procedures such as abdominal ultrasound and echocardiograms are available on request and performed here in the Clinic by Dr Karen Morrow a board certified radiologist. Ultrasound is a non-invasive modern technique that uses high-frequency sound waves to produce visual images. These images often provide critical information for the proper diagnoses and treatment of diseases of the internal organs.

Labratory Testing

We perform a broad variety of diagnostic laboratory tests on site, including complete blood counts and blood chemistry profiles, urinalyses, parasitology screenings, fungal cultures, and skin scrapings. Abaxis HM2For more complex blood work or other diagnostics that require an outside laboratory, we use Antech Diagnostics, the nation's largest veterinary diagnostic lab, to insure prompt, high quality laboratory results.

We believe that good oral health is a key component of your pet's overall health. We encourage you to put your pet on a regular dental cleaning schedule with us, and we will be glad to discuss steps you can take at home to help keep your pet's mouth healthy.

Boarding and Bathing

WeDog Boarding provide veterinary supervised boarding for your pet in an air conditioned kennel area. The recent addition of an outdoor fenced-in exercise area in the back of the clinic allows us the luxury of permitting our boarded pets a supervised "playtime" each day. Our staff is trained to recognize most physical symptoms or behavioral changes that your pet may exhibit that would indicate problems they are experiencing. All these factors combine to make for a safe, clean and enjoyable stay for your pet while you are away.

PCat Boardinglease note that all pets that board with us must have current vaccinations (FVRCP and Rabies for cats; DHPPC, Bordatella and Rabies for dogs). Space is sometimes limited, so reservations should be made well in advance, especially during holiday periods.

We offer a wide variety of shampoos and treatments for your pet's bath. We use hypoallergenic soap free shampoo for all our routine baths to help soothe irritated skin and to prolong the efficacy of any topical flea and tick preventatives you may be using on your pet. We also have a wide variety of medicated shampoos to aid in the treatment of any specific skin or coat conditions your pet may have.
